We are looking forward to another September celebration of textiles, textile inspiration and textile makers – the #SeptTextileLove 2019 Instagram Challenge is happening again this year!
What is #SeptTextileLove?
For each of the 30 days of September there is a different textile-related prompt for you to interpret on your Instagram feed. You can respond to as many of the prompts as you wish, this could be only a few or it may be all of them. The only requirement is that you include the hashtag #SeptTextileLove so we, and everyone else involved, can find, like, comment on and share your posts!
Who can get involved?
Anyone who creates or loves textiles can be part of #SeptTextileLove.
Last year there was such wonderful diversity of work: lace makers, embroiderers, weavers, printers, quilters, dyers, knitters, makers, stitchers, textile groups, researchers, students, lecturers, artists, small businesses and more from all over the world took part.
What are the results?
- Gorgeous textile images to indulge in and be inspired by.
- The opportunity to meet and interact with fellow textile enthusiasts online.
- Creating and being part of an Instagram textile community, who provide great support and encouragement year round.
- A way to look at your work with fresh eyes.
When are the prompts released?
The full list of prompts will be shared here on the seam blog on 31 August, ready for people to respond to from 1 September. If you like to plan ahead, you can see the prompts a week early by signing up to receive the seam newsletter. The full list of prompts is shared with our newsletter subscribers as an exclusive preview so they can get a bit of a head start (and there’s a #SeptTextileLove planner for you to download too). The seam newsletter is sent quarterly and includes details of where you can see members’ work, upcoming exhibitions and opportunities to be involved. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of the newsletter.
We love hosting the #SeptTextileLove challenge. This September we hope to engage with a lot of old and new friends and share our love of all things textiles. See you there!
