In concert with the Yeovil exhibition (October 2015) we held a set of workshops in educational establishments in South Somerset and on Saturdays in our exhibition space. The workshops were based around the shift dress and the textile techniques used in the project with the aim of encouraging creativity and collaboration in textiles.
Details of the workshops held in the exhibition space are listed below.
Saturday 3 October: shiftWrap with Desiree Goodall (drop in event). Knit together to make a wrap for the knitted shift dress on display. Basic knitting experience required.
Saturday 10 October: Embroider a dress in a day! with Anna Gravelle. Collaborative hand embroidery/sequins/beads. Beginners welcome.
NB. this is a full day event and participants will need to attend both the morning and afternoon sessions.
Saturday 17 October: Create a felted shift dress with Angie Parker. Felt flat panels and decorative balls to embellish a collaborative dress. Beginners welcome.
Ongoing: Make your mark by hand embroidering some graffiti on our blank, black shift dress any time during the exhibitions.
